  Key Number One: Stay Focused!

I can’t tell you how many actors I run into that have given up way too early in their careers simply because they were overwhelmed and/or became discouraged by the business. The entertainment business can take a toll on your self-esteem and your faith to survive as an artistic entertainer, So key number 1: Stay Focused!

You first need to ask yourself if you’ve set any goals for yourself? For your career I mean and if so, have you reach them? Well, if you haven’t reached your career goals by now I can assure you that you’ve probably lost your focus somewhere down the line. You see, staying focused on your career goals helps you to achieve them but can you guess what hinders your dreams or goals? That’s right, big little things called "distractions". Distractions are the number one destroyer of your dreams! Maybe you’re an actor or actress who's had goals of joining SAG (The Screen Actors Guild) or AFTRA another important union and haven’t quite gotten in yet, or maybe you’ve been doing extra work and have yet to receive those important "bump-ups" in order to get you in. Maybe you’re a theater major or someone who has dreams of Hollywood stardom. Whatever your situation may be, the first key to you success in your career is to not get distracted.

Here are some key steps in keeping you focused in your career and remember to jot down this information, you’ll be surprised what you learn when you see it written down on paper in your own handwriting.  Okay, the first key in order to be a successful actor is to Stay Focused and rule number one in staying focused is you must realize that "some people just don’t and won’t believe in you!" So it’s imperative that you stay away from those persons who don’t believe in you or your dreams!  I don’t care who they are! I don’t care if its your immediate family members, and usually for some strange reason it seems like it’s always those who are closest to you that discourage you from you dreams. Don’t ask me why but I betcha there’s at least one person in your family that doesn’t agree with your dreams of becoming an actor. There’s always one and I know its hard but you’ve got to realize that you’ll never survive let alone succeed in this business if you surround yourself with people who doubt your dreams. You’ll never have faith in what you are to accomplish if you continue to surround yourself with people who are negative thinkers.

So, how do you combat this destroyer of your success? Easy. Just do the opposite. Surround yourself around people who DO believe in you! Believe it or not you’ve already started this process. By purchasing this tape. Its true, I may never have met you but if you bought this tape I can already confidently say that I believe in you! Why? Because I’m an actor remember, I know what its like. I’ve been there. I can relate because I’ve been in your position before and many times I’ve had to step out on faith. I have faith in you to fulfill your dreams.
