FIRST TIME DIRECTOR SHAVAR ROSS INKS DISTRIBUTION DEAL FOR DEBUT FEATURE "A TASTE OF US"
 

Los Angeles, CA -Director/ writer Shavar Ross, CEO of Tri-Seven Entertainment, a newly formed Los Angeles based film and television production company, has inked an exclusive distribution deal with leading home video distributor, Image Entertainment (Nasdaq:DISK) for his project, "A Taste of Us."   Based on Ross’s original 35-minute, 1960's-short film "A Taste of Us", the feature will now take place in the present, but with an entirely new plot. 
 

"A Taste of  Us" is an urban romantic comedy about two young misfits who help a recently widowed, elderly Baptist preacher regain his church after members of his congregation are convinced he’s planning on eloping with a woman forty-five years his junior.  Cites Ross,  “I’m excited to work with Image Entertainment in bringing my first film into fruition.  I’ve had a fulfilling career as an actor and now look forward to embarking on a professional directing career.”

Shavar Ross is best remembered as the child star "Dudley", Gary Coleman's best friend on the hit 1980's television show "Diff'rent Strokes". Now 34, Shavar's career spans over 20 years.  He has starred in over 100 films, including "Friday The 13th Part 5," and "What's Love Got To Do With It?" His television work includes "Magnum P. I.," "MacGyver,"   "Chicago Hope," "Designing Women,"and "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air," to name a few.  "Soul to Take", Shavar's 26-minute digital short marked his directorial debut with the project garnering distribution through Simmons Lathan Media Group.  “A Taste of Us” marks the actor turned director's feature film debut.
 

"A Taste of Us" will shoot in late February 2006.  Ross is joined on the production by Pearl Devers, whose credits include the award winning CBS movie “The Rosa Parks Story".

Image Entertainment will maintain the rights to both home video and all forms of broadcast and cable television rights. Image Entertainment, Inc. is a leading independent licensee, producer and distributor of home entertainment programming in North America with more than 2,600 exclusive DVD titles in domestic release and approximately 300 programs internationally via sublicense agreements.  The company has distributed Actor/Comedian Jamie Foxx's LaffaPalooza, The Twilight Zone, Quincy Jones Jr.’s “Beef” series, “The Nick and Jessica Comedy Hour” as well as the newly released, “The Donnie McClurkin Story”.

The company also plans on seeking a theatrical release once actors are attached and the film has been completed.
